Lindsay Lohan is now at Coachella 2014, perhaps the last place you’d expect a recovering alcoholic to be so soon after rehab. She has, however, pledged she would stay sober and be on her best behavior. If she was paid for the appearance at the music festival, all the better for her because she’s “100 percent broke” – again.
Lindsay’s financial problems are almost as mediated as her run-ins with the law and her many rehab stints. As she moved from actress to tabloid fixture and the movie offers stopped coming in, she continued to maintain her previous lifestyle, and this took a toll on whatever money she had saved up.
When Oprah Winfrey offered her a helping hand by asking her to document her comeback for a new show on OWN, for which she’d make a rumored $2 million (€1.44 million), things were finally looking up for Lindsay. Not only was she being a given a platform to convince the world that she was a changed woman, but she would also be rewarded handsomely for this gesture of honesty.
The problem is, Star magazine writes in its latest print issue (story via CB), that Lohan never really meant to be honest. Insiders at OWN tell the tab that she continued to act a diva throughout production of the docuseries Lindsay, refusing them access as previously agreed upon and putting on an act for the cameras.
The deal with Lohan is being described as a “losing bet for Oprah’s OWN network” by the insiders, because they paid her a lot of money and then the show failed in the ratings. Lindsay is partly to blame for the poor reception the docuseries got, they are convinced.
“Lindsay agreed to be authentic and give the cameras full access to her life, but she didn’t. Instead, she didn’t film when she agreed to, did almost no publicity for the show and was drinking since almost day one of filming,” says an insider.
Considering the show is supposed to be about how Lindsay is sober and trying to get her career back, her drinking “from day one” must have made Oprah really furious and, at the same time, sorry for ever trusting her.
But Lindsay has more to worry about than just Oprah’s hurt feelings: she’s already burned through the millions she was paid for the docuseries not many months ago. “Lindsay is 100 percent broke. The only money she got was from Oprah and that’s over now,” says another source.
Only a few days ago, a report said certain celebrities were being paid big bucks to show up at Coachella and “casually” pose for pictures with their products. Perhaps Lindsay too was made such an offer. She could definitely use the money right now.
