Apple's iPhone 6 Rumored to Launch in August

Apple typically releases its next-generation iPhones in September of each year, but a new report suggests we might see the iPhone 6 a little earlier this time around.

According to sources cited in Taiwan's Economic Daily News (spotted by Reuters), the iPhone 6 is expected to launch in August, one month ahead of the company's normal product cycle schedule.

The report says only the 4.7-inch iPhone will launch in August, with Apple debuting a larger 5.5-inch or 5.6-inch model in September.

Earlier this year, an alleged leaked document of what was believed to be a schematic of the iPhone 6 provided hints that the new Apple smartphone could be in the 5.5-inch range. This would be Apple's first foray into larger handsets, often referred to as "phablets."

Samsung kicked off the bigger smartphone market in 2011 when it announced the original 5.3-inch Galaxy Note phone. Other manufacturers such as HTC, Nokia and LG rolled out similar sizes soon after.

The iPhone 6 is rumored to have improved maps and a strong focus on fitness.
