Google Glass Parody Shows Family Lost in Wearable Computing

Taking pot shots at Google Glass has officially gone mainstream.

That's the only conclusion we can come to after watching a new commercial from Colorado-based FirstBank, in which an entire family hilariously attempt

Conceived by TDA_Boulder, a local advertising agency, the commercial takes us into the home of a family addicted to using the Google Glass-like device.

Stumbling through serving a meal to her family, the device-wearing mother pours food over her husband while staring into the tiny faux-Glass screen. As the food pours into his lap the husband remains oblivious, swiping at what is supposed to be some menu he's looking at on his own head-mounted device.
Meanwhile, across the table, the daughter is locked into posting photos and hashtagging them with the device, while the son just seems lost in a some sort of wearable computing device spasm.

The commercial spot has little to do with the company's banking services, but it does put a fine point on just how far Google Glass has fallen in terms of public perception.

When even companies in Middle America are using your device — which is still in beta — as the butt of jokes, that's probably a clue that it's time for a major strategic overhaul.
